A Feeling

about

“A Feeling” is the song I musically feel the most kindred to me. As a child, I grew up listening to a lot of punk and rock music and I always dreamt of being on the stage wrecking a guitar (preferably a black and white Gibson Les Paul Jr, if you get the reference to my childhood absolute idol). I believe I currently am exploring my musical identity and all of its possibilities, but “A Feeling” definitely helped me set my starting point. To me, it was like saying: this is where it all began, now let’s see where we’re headed.
As for the lyrics, I remember writing the first part of the song at a time when I felt my hopes and ideas were particularly pointless. I kept sitting at the piano for days and weeks and nothing sounded good to me. It was all a big musical mush, a giant bucket of melted ice cream words. “I’ve got a feeling it’s all wrong” summed it all up.
I left the half-written song to rest for a while and later, on a day when I felt truly confident instead, I wrote the second part. “I’ve got a feeling it’s all right”, said my most fighting side. And on we went.
This song really depicts my constant back and forth between my insecurities and strengths. I always live like this: not a day goes by without me both doubting and galvanizing myself for even the most insignificant things. - Kuni

lyrics

In the end you’re the only one that stands
If I won’t slide I hope we’ll meet just there
In the end you’re the only one that stands
Don’t you see?
Don’t you see?
I’ve got a feeling it’s all wrong
I’ve got a feeling it’s already been done
I’ve got a feeling all alone
I’ve had this feeling long enough
I won’t forget anything at all
Anything at all
In the end you’re the only one that stands
If I won’t slide I hope we’ll meet just there
In the end you’re the only one that stands
Don’t you see?
Don’t you see?
I’ve got a feeling it’s alright
I’ve got a feeling I’m not falling behind
I’ve got a feeling I’m not tired
I’ve pulled the thorns out of my mind
Don’t forget what I said
I didn’t mean to hurt you
But I meant every word of it
In the end you’re the only one that stands
If I won’t slide I hope we’ll meet just there
In the end you’re the only one that stands
Don’t you see?
Don’t you see?
Don’t you see?
Don’t you see?
